lumiÞreslanuit (alias lln) is glad to welcome back paris-based music composer, live performer and dj vadim svoboda for the 10th release of the label. in addition to be a close friend of the lln crew and a regular of the label’s showcases, vadim svoboda has also become a key artist of the label. indeed, it’s with him that it has all started, about three years ago, when he released his syntherapie ep (lln000) on the label. nine releases (plus one) later, we’re glad to have him again on board, this time with another format as he’s about to release his first album seed (lln009+1). seed is made up of two records: roots (vinyl 1: lln009) and canopy (vinyl 2: lln009+1). whereas roots sounds like a mini-album in the album where melodic and melancholic notes alternates with dark and strong beats, canopy seems - according to its composition - to refer directly to his syntherapie ep, even though the listener might find the same inspirations in both records.

electronic pop act penelope is the second release on fellow swede pjotr’s label. backed up by remixes from roger 23 and physical therapy, the band offers three dystopian pop songs spanning from futuristic, villainous r&b to trance filled breakbeat ending with a guitar based ballad - all songs being infected by penelope’s machiavellian lusting vocals.
roger 23 delivers two versions of the title track, the first a forceful chi-town beat adventure with raw outer space chords (including full original vox), the second a reduced effective piercing dub straight from the outer sphere. physical therapy closes with a psychedelic version of “rattlesnake” built around hard-hitting tribal drums.

for the first vinyl release from toronto-based experimental techno label kikimora tapes, unfollow presents a three track 12” mastered and cut at dubplates & mastering in berlin.

tv showw is a new record label from paris. we are very proud to launch the label with an ep from one of chicago s most prolific and inventive electronic musicians : jamal moss a.k.a. hieroglyphic being or i.b.m., among others. jai/mahl is his fresh new alias especially created for this ep. the three tracks are made for the dancefloor (four-to-the-floor) while not diluting his signature oddity made of sonic textures and damaged rhythms. moss calls his style -synth expressionism- or -rhythmic cubism.-

part three in alden tyrell s latest project: -vorm variaties-, a 5 release series consisting of tracks recorded in the last 2 years. the -vorm variaties- tracks were a -style excercise- for tyrell, flexing his producermuscle while health issues forced him to stop touring. initially he had no intention to release these tracks but we found them so good that we were almost forced to start this series. all tracks selected are variations on classic techno forms, using classic style ingredients and the 909. all 5 -variaties- are different in style, yet all homogenous, all with alden tyrell s sound signature... on point production skills and stripped down arrangements.

limited to 300 copies! following his recent releases on tartelet records and oye, uffe kicks off the nos classics label with a record consisting of three mutated disco tracks that marks the start of his own new copenhagen-based label. run together with fellow tartelet affiliates vktr and jeppe wolmer (of vivian international) the first records a-side is a dubbed out percussive testament to the darkest and saddest times of uffe s life. a2 is a melodic and dreamy homage to one certain apartement located on the lijnbaangracht in the jordaan area in amsterdam. on the top floor of this worn down old house there was light to be found in these dark times. on the flip-side tings gets trippy. the title track finds uffe deeply intertwined in an occult-like bass-heavy ritual. an attempt to escape reality and cure the scandinavian misanthropy and the grey weather it comes with. a twelve minute voodoo disco tool perfectly crafted for a dancefloor which most probably does not exist.

on the spectrum does, new york avant-rock musicians che chen and robbie lee create three earthy and slow moving pieces, informed as much by various global folk traditions as they are by 20th century composition and improvisation.their ‘anything goes approach to improvising leads to a sonic document that sounds raw, intense and freshly exciting. a wild and shambolic brew sounding like nothing else.

following on from the ability ii pressure re-release, major problems and compassion cuts present another in-house favourite from their vaults: the sublime garage/rnb earworm dont tell me (how love should feel) by 2-bmw. a tony humphries/zanzibar favourite, the sole release on life of luxury in 1990 was new jersey producer larry p rauson’s first cut, and never saw a full release. it’s presented with three remarkable dubs from the mysterious man in bed, two of which in turn are flipped by compassion crew and, completing the circle, by larry himself. full colour cover with matt finish. restored and mastered by thomas p heckmann at trope. cut by andreas kauffelt at schnittstelle. artwork by mel keane. larry on dont tell me: tony played the song at zanzibar (on a) saturday night. that sunday morning my phone was blowing up... that weekend gave me the moment of my career. i was an engineer at the local cable company. listening to tony humphries on the radio, not expecting it, tony humphries played my record on his show... i did not last much longer at that job.

having given us a taster of things to come back in september 2016, with the pressing matters single, the cyclist returns to hypercolour with a brand new, full length album. and as the title suggests, sapa inca delirium leans heavily on south american mysticism, not just musically, but in the visual imagery that the eleven-track album paints so well across its various tempos and rhythms. from the tropical burst of mood setting opener, go back to the steamy and pacey percussive flow of inhale/exhale which features regular collaborator tanaya harper on vocals, the cyclist’s fourth long player is crammed full of intriguing atmospheres and soundscapes. antiexist, with its down-tempo rolling snare fills and ethereal gregorian chanting segues effortlessly into a blind girl drinks ayawaska, a suitably discordant and hallucinogenic skit that ensures the album flows into the more rhythmic cuts like skateboarding in the jungle and mirrors (the second album cut to feature harper on vocals). even the traditional jazzier vibes of when we all break down featuring joni are kept rugged and boisterous, with heavyweight bending bass, choppy breakbeats and fx’d ambience amongst the smooth jazzy chords and sweet vocal delivery. sapa inca delirium is one of those albums that will reward on repeat listen, such is the diversity of style on show here, and the detailed and wide eyed curiosity offered up across the long players fifty three minutes.

music from memorys final compilation of 2017 sees the release of the double album 1 by 1, which brings together the works of american experimental musician geoffrey landers. during a period spanning from 1979 to 1987, this denver, colorado based multi-instrumentalist, composer, record producer and engineer, conceived several solo albums. only two of these, the ever decimal pulse and habitual features along with the single breedlove were ever released on vinyl. being heavily involved in the local industrial/punk/new wave scene and wanting to create a recording studio available to record artists regardless of their financial circumstances landers set up the packing house studio in 1981. this analog 8-track recording facility was located in a former slaughterhouse in the stockyards of denver and was a place of significant activity for the next three years with the studio releasing recordings from numerous artists most notably allen ginsberg.

xixa balance ep (apa002) abstract places audio elusive producer xixa delivers the second abstract places audio release. balance is a three-track ep where the co-founder of the label packs a solid techno sound drowned in complex and evolving atmospheres. as first label’s release (clip - gebre, 2016), this is not a 100% club record, we can hear ambient and idm influences, but a1 and b1 are perfect tracks to keep a techno set full of rhythm and tension, and will get its place on any dj record bag. a1 balance is built around a distorted but controlled techno beat. patiently, a wide palette of drones and other-worldly artefacts are growing next to carefully crafted percussive sounds. 1984 opens the b side of the 12”, with a 4 to the floor overdriven bass drum and a reverse reverb announcing its main synth sequence, accompanied by organic hi-hats and clap sounds. a collection of ethereal drones and noises is also used, giving the track a sense of cohesion and gluing its different parts. life inside a snow ball is xixa s personal take on ambient. some of the drones and artefacts from a1 are now mixed with new quasi- harmonic emotional textures and subtle noises emerging from a deep unknown space and forming a complete new sonic experience. balance ep is a very solid second release by abstract places audio that confirms the label sound and philosophy.

one of detroit’s best kept secrets, rick wade has been producing late night tracks and tapping into the essence of deepness since the 90’s. known for their universal appeal and appearing on over 20 different labels worldwide, soulful, timeless grooves are his signature. growing up in buchanan mi, 1 hour outside of chicago he was influenced by chicago radio station wbmx and the salsoul material and local stations that played the likes of al green and isaac hayes. in 1993 rick and dan bell started harmonie park to release house material and in 1995 rick started another label bass force primarily as an outlet for the booty / bass material that he records under the big daddy rick moniker. this time rick brings us “the depth charge ep”, three tracks of lavish organic deepness, with jazzy rhodes-chords, strings, trumpets, warm lush big sounding pads, combined with soulful vocal samples and crisp beats. london’s westlake72 contributes with a stunning remix of “be there”, injecting a fierce disco groove and vibe.

this 12-, out on the limited-run livejam limited imprint, wants to propose three club-oriented cuts exctracted from john swing s debut album assorted moods , on a more dj friendly format. the 4th track on the ep, -bonus track-, is a previously unreleased raw house groover in typical john swing s style. 350 hand numbered copies.

following on from 2016’s excellent “birsk” single on futureboogie, philipp lauer returns to the label with a new three track single. the “las brisas” ep kick starts with the mechanical funk of “pile”, acidic notes drip over heavy ebm drums whilst a hovering ‘resse’ style bassline dominates, the influence of early house and industrial dance are ever present here on this belter of a track from the tuff city kids and talamanca system player.
more acid pressure can be found on “clipper”, a blazing and dynamic slice of anthemic balearic dance. searing pads and lustrous melodies pour over the robust drum machine workout, that’ll have dancers reaching for the skies! real stirring stuff from lauer, which continues with closing track “tyco”. ricocheting stabs and cowbell hits bounce off a sturdy kick drum as the track flourishes with more on-point melodies and a snaking bass. dripping with emotive refrains, lauer brings his very best to the table here, and rounds off an ep that’s most definitely all killer and no filler!

this june session victim returned to delusions of grandeur imprint with their third studio album. listen to your heart is the result of a year of cross-continental scripting, started in their hamburg studio and wrapped up stateside in san francisco’s room g studios where the duo had worked on their 2014 lp see you when you get there. here we present the third of three lp samplers containing four tracks each, cut nice and loud for the vinyl crew.
we kick things off with almost midnight, another uplifting summer jam loaded with trademark session victim energy and positive vibrations. next up we have castle for sale which drops the bpm’s for a dub influenced, spaced out jam session sounding like king tubby and nightmares on wax getting stuck in the proverbial lift with a large bong for company.
flipping over we have a head over heels, which goes heavy on the lush orchestral strings and a brilliant bouncing moog bassline bringing a deft touch. finally we’re treated to thermal explorer, which incorporates some wonderful larry heard-esque keyboards for a perfect wind-down track to close the release.

marlon hoffstadt is a rising star as both a dj and producer, effortlessly joining the dots between classic rave and the future of techno. taking a break from running his retrograde label, marlon has cooked up observing the known for ransom note records. over three tracks of warm synths, bubbly acid and emotional chord progressions, the ep sees marlon reimagining house music for todays dancefloor, taking the passion and energy of ‘80s chicago and giving it the production heft of 2017 berlin. opener ‘floating’ is a piano house classic, shot through with chimes and 303 gurgles, nostalgic for a golden age whilst optimistically looking forward. this is peak time house for dancefloors with heart. it’s followed by the computerised funk of ‘arp+’, an acid house roller that teams jacking 303 bass with mournful strings, as sorrowful as it is uplifting. b-side opener ‘batavus’ is a driving tribute to detroit, kevin saunderson-esque keys stabbing over soaring washes of synth, the sound of late nights and starry eyes. london-based scott fraser has added a remix of arp+ that takes marlons classic techno to darker lands, with snapping electro drums and deliberately seasick bass pressure ramping up the claustrophobia. this mix has already been causing huge damage when dropped on dubplate at fraser’s feted body hammer night.

kalita records release their first in a series of coveted reissues, starting with the three choice cuts from nst cophie s 1980 private press ivory coast afro-disco album mon da center. after moving to paris in 1976 and having played with other well-known bands such as n bamina, osibisa, and with numerous artists including jimmy hyacinthe and papa wemba, mon da center was ernest s first solo album. recorded at studio caroline in paris s 20th sector over the space of one week, this self-funded ultra-rare album regularly exchanges hands for eye-watering prices. pretty much unknown except to the most hardened of diggers, bian kou , e clolo and mioukouna are guaranteed to set any dance floor alight, with hypnotic afro-disco grooves, killer drums and angelic female vocals.

jules elipse (elipse music) is known for his eclectic output - here he tackles the jungle genre with characteristic aplomb! featuring three ragga-infused cuts of authentic 94/95 style jungle at or around the 160bpm mark, with hyper-syncopated drums, ragga chants and a devilishly dark mood prevailing over the tracks - 7th storey projects presents the dogheart ep.

marking the last crosstown rebels release of the summer, yousef steps into the spotlight with the compelling vanity featuring entrancing vocals from the angel. heavyweight remixes courtesy of carl cox, and bontan complete the package.
played for the first time by damian, vanity was premiered at day zero in january, with videos capturing this moment reaching the three million mark. the vocals of long term collaborator the angel caress the memories of lovers gone in vanity, whilst the drums and poignant breaks deliver high impact. uk dj bontan delivers the first remix, picking up the pace and adding his signature choppy beats. musical royalty, carl cox is up next with an energetic force and increasing intensity levels. switching it up, yousef returns with his black & acid dub complete with throbbing drums and stripped back vocals.
famed for his legendary circus events in liverpool and a recent worldwide tour, yousef has been at the forefront of electronic music for over fifteen years. with releases on cocoon, defected and bpitch among others, yousef also has a weekly radio show aired in over fifty countries, with over 20 million global listeners.

this time is ricardo rodrigues aka industrialyzer who lands on the court of damon wild with three tracks perfectly aliened with the label s philosophy, synewave has been at the service of real techno for over 20 years. it all begins with analogue planet a 130 bpm journey which rouses the dance floor whilst stimulating the mind, giving both of them no mercy. the second track, -multiple walls-, carries the flavour of an old school small march with a hammondesque synth which revolves around the groove from beginning to end. the atmosphere becomes dark and acid in the third and final track on this release. orbit x is an emotional roller coaster which develops in different phases, everyone of which takes the listener by surprise. with this release industrialyzer reminds us that, after all, new york, detroit, chicago, berlin, amsterdam or lisbon dont really matter, quality techno is a global affair and synewave consistently confirms this with releases above all schemes, movements and trends. monumental.

with lukas lehmann, a new face joins the footjob-squad. out of his estimated 7.436 unfinished projects, he managed to complete three tracks, bag a remix and bundle it all up to what will hit the stores as this is why ep. the a-side kicks off with the discoish banger q&h and a beautiful synth-heavy remix by lorenz rhode not only famous for his releases on compost records or exploited but also for taking detroit-swindle-liveshows to another level with his godlike keys-skills. the deeper side of lukas’ sound is represented on the b-side. starting with edgy piano chords, solid/fragile (coexistence) introduces an enchanting arpeggio midway through the track. with its distinctive strings, nothing but a heartache makes for a semi-sentimental yet still hips-moving finisher.

due to thyphoon dujuan, move d and his friends benoit bouquin aka initials b.b. & marco wollenberg were trapped in the studio for a few days, when david visited taipei in 2015 to play corner club. all the flights to and from the island were cancelled during the storm, so the three had some extended studio- and red-wine sessions. looking back from now- these were all worth it and the best thing that could happen- 3 hazy and timeless cuts from the eye of dujuan. as always it comes with a stunning full-cover artwork from stefan marx.

zed bias is an electronic music pioneer, throughout his career he has traversed genres with ease whilst all the while retaining his signature sound. it was in 2016 that he debuted on exit records with a three tracker featuring zoe violet, the release was a sign of things to come. modern u.k. soul delivered in the 160bpm format, this aesthetic has now been developed with the different response album. it s the sound of zed bias in 2017, undeniable soul with one eye on the dancefloor. hes gathered a formidable feature list to voice the album artists from his native manchester and beyond all lend their talents to the album. label owner dbridge says of the release: an lp that fits perfectly in what i believe exit is about. artists creating music with soul and a sound uniquely their own. zed has shown again whats possible when you listen to your own voice

pépe joins the lobster fam after a stunning, twinkling ep of miniature electro & house for renascence. taking aim at wider sonic territory, lemon fanta showcases the valencia producers multi-floral sound palette across three shifting times and moodscapes.

for their second release on the label, dgtl records asked another one of its festival shows regulars: fort romeau. after playing at three different dgtl editions, and an upcoming fourth during ade, the organization also wanted to propagate his sound with an ep on their imprint. the release consists of two multi-layered compositions, untitled ii and a familiar place, and will be available on the 13th of october.

native response returns with another 12-inch record with nr002: shaman among the machines by deltitnu. deltitnu is a homegrown native response project, debuting with three tracks that all share a certain feeling of mystery, accompanied by a steady grooving remix by roger gerressen.

the first ep from mouse on mars since their anniversary recording 21 again (2014) is clearly connected to their recent club gigs. in fact, synaptics sees the berlin duo embrace their love of juke, footwork and chopped up house music like never before. on its three tracks, andi toma and jan st. werner reinforce the collaborative idea of 21 again: eight different artists have been involved in the making of these tracks, which deliberately depart from a characteristic mouse on mars sound, creating a more organized vibe while still maintaining links to their previous work. there are two directions of research in andi and jan s sonic laboratory: one is focused on experimental club music, the other is in search of music without ties to specific genres. though heavily leaning towards the club, synaptics is caught in between. from the duo s perspective, it even touches pop territory. all three tracks came into existence during the past four years. opener „jack is out- with its pounding lazer stabs is an obvious link to their current club sets as well as a clue on future productions. after months of redesigning and rearranging, it found its final form through an edit by bon iver producer ryan olson aka arson only at his wisconsin studio, where andi and jan also recored for their next album. „bluescreen- was born out of a berlin session with jessy lanza and junior boys and was completed some year later with support from modeselektor. and the tropical funk of „sensitive person-, based on a studio jam with sepalcure, also needed some aging and refinement after a couple of months.

on his new album, i have what i gave, italian musician bottin outdoes himself. he crafts propulsive, disco-laden scores for films not yet made, and introspective, mind-expanding cuts designed to ensure that people who want to dance never get caught up in conventional experiences. each moment with bottin is a memorable one.

the latest installment on roam recordings features nozz aka damon jee aka jérôme da silva. most known as damon jee for his widely acclaimed remixes, jérôme has been branching out with outstanding originals under his nozz alias. in his misfits ep for roam nozz delivers two excellent new productions. the title track is a cool rock infused guitar laden stunner with class and attitude while hippy home is a dreamer of a tune perfect for greeting the sun or losing yourself in a closed eyed dance session. the misfits ep comes with two top remixes from the emperor machine and autarkic. the first remix is a tour de force performance with a sound that is unmistakably the emperor machine – intricate, dubbed out, lasers, and superb production. autarkic s version of hippy home adds an eclectic edge to the ep with a cacophony of orchestral and quirky sounds that somehow perfectly keep in line with the stripped down feel of this remix. the misfits ep brings together three artists at the top of their game and is a fine addition to the ever growing roam recordings catalog.

a breakthrough artist who has had a massive 2017 to date, or:la returns to hotflush with three new tracks and a remix of limbosoup (from her debut hotflush ep last year) by detroit’s fit siegel.
following the launch of her own label, deep sea frequency, and a standout boiler room appearance, this new batch of fresh material cements or:la’s position in the uk underground. taking cues from influences ranging from classic jungle to post-dubstep, farewell 24 offers more evidence as to why so many have tipped the derry producer for great things. and to round things off, we are very excited to include a razor sharp remix from the one and only fit siegel, one of our absolute us favourites.

japan’s hokuto sato is back on his own aura music with three hypnotic techno-house. on the a side, we’ve got 2 tracks composed of rich layers of concrete sounds and strange voice samples over tight drums and percussions. on the flip “awayuki (light snow)” is a good example of how piano house can be twisted and stripped down for modern dance floors.

already big support by oscar mulero, shifted, blawan, jonas kopp, andre kronert and more. in what is already his sixth release on his own angls imprint, dimi angelis unveils his love for loopy, noisey techno. first drop vector shift skips the pleasantries and gets right down to it, fusing gritty saws and a rumbling bassline with ominous industrial stabs. on the flipside dislocated stays with the program, but opts for a slightly deeper approach, riding on an unrelenting hihat. follow-up and final track triplicity closes it down in style, sounding almost like some of the machines hardwired themselves. straight-up bangers, all three of them.
